San Francisco

At the very beginning of June, Justin and I took a week long vacation (just the two of us!) to San Francisco, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe....3 places that we have never been before. We called it our "babymoon." It was a blast!

San Francisco is quite the beautiful city.

Our first night there, we met up with some of Justin's work distributors from Ethiopia and enjoyed a yummy dinner and after a dessert at Ghirardelli Square with them.

You can't tell in the picture what this dessert was but it was the mother of all desserts. Ice cream with some amazing cookies crumbled in it,  and topped with whip cream. Divine.

The next day we took off and explored the city.
First stop...Lombard Street.

Such a beautiful, quaint little neighborhood settled in the midst of a busy town. I would imagine people pay a pretty penny to live on this unique street. Well, actually we know they do because we zillowed them :)

After exploring for a while, we drove to see the famous Golden Gate Bridge.

Justin and I seriously laughed and laughed this whole trip at trying to take a decent selfie of ourselves. It hardly happened. We were definitely not raised in the selfie generation!

We were super bummed that all the tours for Alcatraz were booked for a few days out but while we were waiting to be seated in a restaurant, we watched a fascinating documentary on it. Such a cool place that we will have to return to visit. You can see it in the background below.

We also stopped by Pier 39 as well and saw the sea lions, ate dinner there, bought a ridiculously expensive piece of chocolate, and just enjoyed the ambiance of that cute place.

Justin with a mouthful of his overly priced rocky road chocolate. He said it was worth it :)

We also stopped by China Town, saw the Painted Ladies, drove around the Golden Gate Park, drove through Castro Street (why not?!), and visited the area where the hippie movement started.

Even though we only had one day in San Francisco, we were able to see a lot. Unfortunately, the cable car drivers were all on strike the week we were there so we didn't get to ride in them :( I guess we will just have to return to do that and Alcatraz someday! We loved San Fran.

We drove our rental car that night to a place close to Yosemite National Park, which will be in my next post. Yosemite is one of the prettiest places we've ever been!
